Albuquerque Sex Therapy provides group therapy options for individuals to explore and address various aspects of their sexual well-being. Our facilitators include licensed sex therapists, sexual health coaches, caseworkers, and graduate-level interns, all dedicated to helping you toward a healthier and more fulfilling sex life.


Relationship Skills

Mondays, January 22–March 8 | 6:00–8:00 PM

This 8-week program for couples focuses on enhancing your relationship skills and fostering a stronger emotional connection with your partner. Throughout the program, we will provide valuable insights and practical tools based on the renowned Gottman Method.

During Week 1, we will cover an introduction to the program, explore the concept of the Sound Relationship House, and delve into creating Love Maps. Week 2 will focus on understanding bids and turning toward your partner, building emotional bank accounts, and cultivating fondness and admiration. Week 3 will address important relationship dynamics, including recognizing and managing the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, understanding the impact of flooding, navigating the pursuer/distancer pattern, developing healthy breaks, and practicing self-soothing techniques. Week 4 will explore the importance of accepting influence and learning to differentiate between perpetual and solvable relationship problems. Week 5 will focus on repair strategies, while Week 6 will further delve into repair techniques to strengthen your bond. Week 7, we will engage in exercises to explore your family’s values, and work on creating shared meaning within your relationship. Week 8 will focus on sex and fostering intimacy.

Participating in this group will gain valuable insights and practical skills to improve your relationship. Our experienced facilitators will guide you through the program, providing support and guidance. Group Facilitator: Laura Ross Wood, LMSW, PMH-C, CHt
Laura is a Licensed Social Worker, certified in Perinatal Mental Health, Gottman Levels 1&2, Bringing Baby Home, and hypnotherapy; now pursuing certification in sex therapy. Her strengths-based and sex-positive approach includes examining past traumas and experiences, facing present struggles honestly and openly, and creating a more positive future. Exploration, education, psychodynamic and feminist theory, Gottman, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, self-esteem and boundaries work, communication skills, and mindfulness are great ways to learn more about yourself and to feel better. Laura loves working with adult and teenage clients; individuals and couples; and anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, self-esteem issues, postpartum mood disorders, and childbirth.


Upcoming Groups


Men’s Group: This group addresses individuals’ unique challenges and concerns concerning their sexual health. Whether it’s performance anxiety, relationship issues, or other aspects of male sexuality, this group provides a safe and non-judgmental space for open discussions, peer support, and expert guidance.


Compulsive Sexual Behaviors Group: For those struggling with compulsive sexual behaviors such as compulsive or out of control pornography use or “addiction”, out of control sexual behaviors or  “addiction”, or other more generalized feeling out of control sexual behaviors, this group offers assessment, treatment planning that can included individual therapy when clinically indicated.


Queer Group Therapy: Explicitly created for LGBTQ+ individuals, this group aims to provide a safe and affirming space to discuss and explore unique experiences, challenges, and related to sexuality. It is a supportive community where individuals can share their experiences, find understanding, and foster personal growth.


Faith-Based, Sex-Positive Group: This group is tailored for individuals who want to explore the intersection of their faith, family values or spirituality with their sexuality. It offers a non-judgmental environment to reconcile conflicts, foster a healthy and holistic understanding of sexual well-being, and promote sex positivity.


Menopausal Women’s Group: Specifically designed for women going through the menopausal transition, this group provides a supportive space to address the unique challenges and changes in sexual health that may arise during this stage of life. It offers a platform for open discussions, education, and strategies to enhance sexual well-being.

Bringing Baby Home

Are you expecting, or do you have young children? The arrival of a baby can bring significant challenges to most relationships. Designed for expecting and new parents, this Gottman program is science-based, goal-oriented, and wonderfully effective. Learn how to navigate the complexities of parenting, gain insight into the changes that come with it, and have open conversations about your needs.

We’ll explore practical exercises designed to improve emotional communication and help you to make subtle but meaningful relationship enhancements, better understand your partnership dynamics, and equip yourselves with valuable tools for happier, more satisfying relationships. Studies have shown that couples participating in this workshop experienced greater relationship satisfaction, reduced conflicts, and a lower likelihood of postpartum depression.
